MySQL Functions without PHP?

Hi, i have been trying to get MySQL to work for me with PHP code, but it does not work. is it possible to have a MySQL script and run that then send that to PHP? i am just wondering, since i cannot get PHP to do anything with MySQL on my server, and the host says that it supports both MySQL and PHP. thanks

There is no such thing as a mysql script. MySQL is just a place to store data, you need scripts to modify that data. There is no such thing as a MySQL scripting language either. Just PHP, Perl, ASP, cold fusion, ect.

How about letting the people in the coding section look over your code for syntax errors?

(i dont know why they always answer other ppl's questions and leave me in the dark with my buggy forum,... oh well ={ )

You could write scripts manually on your server and have them executed but they can't do much but simple chores. You can run them like:

mysql < mysql.sql

mysql.sql

create table mytable ( etc. );
select * etc.
