I received the ff error msg. while accessing mysql(Linux) from php...

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in line #...

What could be wrong?

I was able to execute search without any problem running Apache/Mysql under Windows. I ported it to Linux and the problem occured.

Your mysql query is failing (which is not the same thing as returning an empty result set). But the reason you're seeing the error message is you are blindly using the query result without testing if it's valid. See the manual page for mysql_query() and mysql_error() for examples of how to do this properly.

What is bugging me is that I was able to execute it smoothly under windows. Are there any differences accessing mysql under linux and under windows?

my query goes:
select * from TABLENAME

i am not sure but is it possible that mysql creates your table in lower case? in that case,

select * from TABLENAME 

is incorrect. you could try:

select * from tablename

*nix systems are case sensitive, windows systems are not.

Oh thanks for your help. I really appreciate that. I had figured out the problem lately: I'm trying to access my database without assigning first who the user will be by the command "GRANT usage ...".
