Access for MySQL

How can I use Microsoft Access to connect to a MySQL server on another machine and when I change table data on Access, it will be automatically updated on the MySQL server?

I've seen this done, I just don't know how to set it up!

Hello Josh.

You should install MyODBC on the computer with MySql and link up the ODBC driver with MySql database.

In MS Access, you create a link to the MySql database using the remote MyOdbc driver. this should give you access to the MySql database. Any changes youmake in access will be reflected in MySql.

This sounds a little vague but I read about this somewhere. You could check the php.net site but I can't be sure.

Yeah, I seem to be having this problem too, I can read the tables from MySQL OK, and when I enter in some new data, or create a new table, it shows up locally on Access, but if I log out of my NT workstation and go back in, phoof, the new tables and data are gone.

Thanks for the info. I ended up installing MyODBC but I am still having problems. It won't let me connect. I went through the tutorial at phphelp.com but I'm getting this error when I try and connect with access:

Can't connect to MySQL server on site.com (10061) (#2003)

DOes anyone have a clue?

Perhaps I am supposed to enter correct info into the host user and db tables of the mysql database? I am not sure what these mean. Could someone please explain to me what needs to go where? Does my static IP need to go into the host table? What about User and DB?
