"This problem will occur because the Paradox ODBC driver only supports access to Paradox version 3.5 (and earlier) files. Thus, when the driver attempts to access a 4.0 file it appears that the file is protected. Users have stated that Paradox version 5 should have a new ODBC driver and will be fully ODBC compliant.
To circumvent the problem the 4.0 file will have to be converted to 3.5 format or you will need to aquire Paradox version 5. "
