Error:01467 of SQl .....

Hi,
I am new to this forum.I am facing an error saying "Error:01467 sort key too long" when i am trying to fetch some query.Some queries when i modified run properly but a few are not working.I am unable to find out the reason and the solution to this problem.Can anyone please help me out ?

sounds like a database issue. what database are you running and what does the queries/tables look like.

The query i made looks like this...
select col1||'::'||col2 ..... from
tab1,tab2....
where
con1 and con2

con1 = UPPER(...) is like UPPER('%...%')
col1 is a column which results string of 2000 characters.Moreover, after removing the 'UPPER' group function some results r being fetched but after the string concatination becomes too long, some other error is being thrown saying "string concatination result is too long' .
Please do me the favour.
