Thanks David, I don't believe I spent 4 hours trying to work out the permissions when all I had to do was take a new copy of the database!!!!
Saved me a bit of time at least

I have a solution as well.
This error message plagued me for hours.
Every FAQ I read dealt with permissions. The 3 other databases in the directory updated and "inserted into" just fine.
I reduced the darn database to one record with one field and still got the message.
I checked permissions on the database. I checked the permissions on the server. I even checked my drivers license for permissions.
Finally, out of sheer frustration, I made a copy of the database on my desktop, deleted the one on the web, and uploaded the new copy of database from my desktop to the web.
It now works just fine. Beats the heck out of me what happened (or even what I did), but my advice is to export the data from the db into a new fresh db, destroy the original, and copy the new one.
