Viewing PHP offline

I am trying to find a way to test php scripts offline. I have tried with installing Apache 1.3.12 and PHP 3.0.16. Apache seems to work but PHP only gives me a blank DOS-like screen. All I want to do is run a script to see if it works before uploading it to my website. I use AceExpert for html and either AceExpert or NotePad for my php scripting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I develop my scripts using Quanta. Quanta allows
you to process your code with an external application
and show you the result in a new html page.

So, what I did was compile php as an application
and then run my script trought it to check the output.

When I'm satisfied then I incorpore the code to
the html layout.

Yuor half way there, what you have is an un-configured apache, what you then need to do is either configure it more, or minimize it and load up the page using netscape (or internet exploder) (like http://127.0.0.1/page.php or 192.168.0.234/page.php or whatever your IP is, 127.0.0.1 is if you don't have a network)
