using php3 after instalation

hello all

I installed php3 on my computer, with Red Hat 6.2 and apache. I compilled it. I wrote the sentence

AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php3

in my httpd.conf. I even rebooted my computer. But when I start netscape open a test file ( /home/httpd/html/testphp3.php3)

including <?php phpinfo(); ?>

it doesn't work

(please don't say try anonther line, because I tried a few others too)

what must i do to let php3 run.

Get the installation guide from php.net, and try to configure your system.

Is this a trend, I'm having the same problem.
only with suse 6.4.
Everything seems alright, the module is there, by querying apache (full-status), the module is there. I restarted apache several times but no luck. The simple "hello world"
command won't fire.

I'm no expert so I probably throw it in the closet again until there is a new version of suse and try it again.

Sorry,

I was being stupid, I few seconds after I posted my respons, I saw that the sample php file had an extension .php3.
After renaming the test.html to test.php3 it worked.

Inexperience, long day, I know there is no excuse for my stupidity, can't change the way I am.

I've have almost the same problem, but I can't execute PHP3 files, and I get this message:

Fatal error: Unable to open c:/InetPub/wwwroot/test_php/test.php3 in - on line 0
No input file specified.

I use PWS.
