Hi: I am new to this forum. I have a position that requires me to know PHP. I have the above, subject, setup (Apache v1.3.9). I have attempted to install "infoWin32 Binaries PHP 4.0.1pl2" without success. I have surfed most PHP forum and read a lot of small bits of info here and there concerning my problem but found nothing for a complete install. The manuals indicate a complete installation for PHP3. My question: is the installation the same for PHP4 as it is for PHP3? Copying the DLL files in Winn32 folder and editing them and alter the Apache httpd.conf file? I whent to PHP/version4/Win32 build instructions page. This seem to be an extreme set up operation. But is it required? Thank you in advance for any assistance, JJD

Thank you J. Wynia for the asssitance. I started to use your setup but I did not go through with it because I need to make my setup in another drive besides C:. I was not able to make the change with the options given. I could only change the directory for the Program but not the drive. Unless I am missing something? Your setup seem very interesting, and I would be willing to try it. Let me know if you change the features. I already have Apache installed would it be a problem? What versions of the apps do your install use? Thanks again. JJD

It doesn't allow another path. I set it up primarily for folks who can't get ANY version of the combination working. If I make that changeable, I need to automate the changes necessary in the config files. So, until I can come up with an efficient way to automate the choice, it'll stay c:\apache only. Maybe I could build one for d:\apache too, but making the choice would require quite a bit more work.

Hi J. Wynia: Thanks for your offer, but I don't even have D: drive. I start with E:. I am sorry to put you up to the trouble. How much space would I need to consider? I'll see if I can reduce the size of my C: but in the meantime I am looking forward to other replies for my original posting. I just don't believe it can be that hard to install PHP. After all in this forum I read that other have installed the same as my requirements. It's just not well understood by me. It's a matter of time. Thanks in advance. JJD

If I recall correctly, it takes up about 15 MB itself. Add to that any pages you put in htdocs.

Progam was awesome. Everything installed flawlessly on Win98. Haven't done much testing, but simple scripts work fine. Having the MySQL Admin was great. For those wondering, the setup has recent versions of all the software.

Need to know what to change to move the configuration over to my D:\ drive.

            Thanks

Change the shorcuts in C:\apache, and then do a find and replace in c:\apache\conf\httpd.conf for c: and replace with D: and it should work fine.

                  Hi
I just downloaded PHP triad to my desktop (running Windows XP). After selecting 'launch site' from my program list, explorer started and failed to connect to local host. The problem is that I really don't know anything. The point of downloading triad was to learn what PHP, MYSQL and Apache do. Do I have to start Apache before choosing 'launch site'?
How did you people learn the simple basics?
                  Regards, Christian
