Compiling PHP w/Apache on FreeBSD 4.1

Hello,
I had compiled Apache, by itself, successfully, and then proceeded to install PHP. I shutdown Apache, configured and such (following the UNIX install direction at php.net). I typed make once configure was over, and began to get "mod_php4.c:#:file_name: No such file or directory"
Once # hit 58, it began to throw "*** Error code 1" multiple times.

Any ideas?

apache is installed on /usr/local/apache
unzippd is in /usr/tmp/apache_1.3.12

ran the php ./config as follows:

./configure --with-mysql --with-apache=/usr/tmp/apache_1.3.12 --disable-xml --enable-track-vars

then make
Throws Error 1
