Compile with Gd support

Hi all,

I compile php-4.0.1pl2 with apache and GD support. It seems OK and w/o error message. I can see the php enable GD by using <?phpinfo()?>. However, I cannot create png image from a webpage and only a broken link image displayed, even the simplest example from php.net quick ref.

I am currently using FreeBSD 4.0, Apache 1.3.12, php-4.0.1pl2, gd1.8.3, libpng1.0.8 and zlib1.1.3. The following is a part result of compiling php4.

I don't know why gdImageCreateFromPng and gdImageCreateFromGif are not supported. I've tried many ways but failed. Please offer help.

What you need to do is first install PNG Support into your system. PHP4 only supports PNG and no longer will do GIF (if i don't remember right) whether that is true or not you do need to install PNG libraries first.

You can download PNG from:
http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/libpng.html

After you download the source and install it into your system, then configure php4 and try to recompile it with gd support and it should have a Yes next to PNG this time and will allow you to create PNG images with PHP4.

Hi,

I am experiencing the same problem as Terry, and have 'yes' for all
-gd, -lz, -lpng, libXpm, tff..

When I view the source of the broken image, it displays a message:
imagepng: unable to open temporary file in <test.php>. The same happens
for jpeg stuff. The header() is set to the correct type, i.e /image/png..etc.

Is there anyone who could tell me how I can solve this problem...

I am currently Linux, Apache 1.3.12, php-4.0.1pl2, gd1.8.3,
libpng1.0.8 and zlib1.1.3.

I've done this and also the zlib, but the result remain unchange. What should I do?

I'm having similar problems also on FreeBSD 4.0, with apache 1.3.12 and php-4.0.1pl2. It compiles fine, but when you write a small test script to create an image, there is a broken image.

I found the same problem, until I actually grabbed the source for gd (1.8.3),compiled it,
then included --with-gd=<gd_source_dir> on \'configure\' with all the other gubbins.
This seemed to solve the issue for me.

The only thing I can suggest is to check that the libgd.a contains the gdImageCreateFrom function : 'nm -a libgd.a'
And that the gdtest module compiles and works ok.
