How do I... "webservers document root"

From a popular help site thats around I keep getting this

"Set the 'doc_root' to point to your webservers document_root. ex: c:\apache\htdocs or c:\webroot"

I have no idea how to do this, I mean I've got the php.ini file set up (trying to get V4 working but I'll settle for V3 or even Cold Fusion) I just don't know what to put for the doc_root. I've tried searching around for help on this but keep hitting walls when the only links I come up with are more sites telling me to change it as part of the installation procedure.

I'm currently hoping to use this to update a site hosted by ProHosting if that helps any? The site in question is www.eliteguard.org, I don't actually pay for it so maybe thats part of the problem, I do have full access with a few other people though.

The document root, is where all your html files are stored for that site. You know like index.html....You should be able to edit the ini file to point to this directory. If you are running IIS, your document root would be C:\Inetpub\wwwroot
You should be able to edit the php.ini file to mirror your directory

Thanks, I can let it point to that easily enough. Whats IIS tho? Not sure about this area at all. Maybe it'd be worth getting this PWS I keep hearing about?

I tried PWS, cept after a 34mb dowbload, on small feat on my ISP (!) it wants me to enter the "name of an available MSMQ Site Controller". I then get stuck, as again no internet sites seem to have information on this at all...
Full message reads

"A new Independant Client must be registered in the MSMQ Information Store database of an already established MSMQ Site Controller

Please enter the name on an available MSMQ Site Controller"

youre in the setup wizard right?

basically youre trying to install a feature you probably wont need. click the "BACK" button 4 times, Scroll down the list of components and uncheck the "microsoft message queue" option then continue the installation.
