--with-mysql=/usr crashes apache on startup

Latest PHP, Apache, MySQL, mod_perl all tarballs except MySQL.

mod_perl and php as DSO's

if I build PHP with

--with-mysql=/usr i.e to use the external libs, apache will crash on startup with nothing written to its error log.

if I build with interal MySQL support things work, or if I comment out mod_perl in the httpd.conf, it will work.

Shouldn't that be

--with-mysql=/usr/lib/mysql/

or something?

Using the RPM install of MySQL /usr is all that is needed.

The problem has been "fixed" by moving the
load of the PHP module to the top of the module list. Somewhere in PHP when on uses external MySQL libs, there is a conflict either with mod_perl or some other module.

Hope someone figures it out, I hate putting sumething like that into a production system.
