compile problem

Still having a problem compiling php4.0.2
(last problem was cured by a complete reinstall)

when compiling I get the following:

Hi,

LONG_MAX is defined in limits.h. Check if you have a limits.h in /usr/include or other directories.
limits.h is part of the gnu c library. Your C library might not be installed properly.

What platform are you using ?

Hi,

seems like php assumed that your gd library supports gif image creation. But it doesn't.
Do you use gd 8.1.3 ?

Check the config.log script and search for
gdImageCreateFromGif. Did the conftest program compile with no problems ?

Which configure arguments did you use ?

I got php compiled, it was long and tortuous but not phps' fault. It was redhat
When upgrading the kernel from 2.2.14 to 2.2.16 with rpm the symlinks from /usr/include/asm > /usr/src/linux/include/asm and
/usr/include/linux > /usr/src/linux/include/linux aren't recreated and must be reinstalled by hand. Finaly found this in redhats bugzilla.

The same problem wasted me a couple hours.

You need to do the Configure again after you fixed the other problems.Then you can make it successfully.

I re-install (rpm) kernel-header and kernel-source to fix the /usr/include/linux problem on RedHat 6.2. Then Configure and make. I found that by erasing the directories and install all over again (from .tar.gz) can avoid problems arising in the middle of the process.
