I have an Oracle 8i server at NT. I would like to install PHP in another Linux machine with Apache. How should I do it?

Hi,

the answer is in short:

(1) get the oracle client libraries of Oracle 8i for linux and install them
(2) create a tnsnames.ora with all the connection parameters you need to connect to the Oracle 8i database on the NT server
(3) setup your environment:
ORACLE_BASE ORACLE_HOME
ORACLE_SID ORA_NLS33
(4) compile php with the --with-oracle[=DIR] switch

beware of the -with-oracle... that's for Oracle 7. Should use -with-oci8 if i'm not mistaken. BTW you need to install the client part of the Oracle Enterprise Edition for Linux, available for download on OTN (technet.oracle.com) or on the Technet CD's
