All I am trying to point out is that the response you gave "One reads the manual" to a ligit question (whether you think it is ligit or not) might have been better answered by pointing out something along the lines of what you pointed out to me... such as the following...
"The solution to this problem is clearly printed in the manual, on the first pages of the installation section. "
That would have been a lot more helpful. Not that I am a religeous person or anything but if someone was seeking spiritual guidence and went to a preacher, priest, guru or whatever, and they simply replied.. RTF(Bible, Koran, New Testament etc etc etc) that would not be very helpful. What would be helpful is to say... read this page or this chapter or this section or this paragraph of the (bible, new testament, old testament etc etc etc).
Just because "it was written" does not mean that it was written well, indexed well, or complete. The php manual while it is a good start, it is in no way perfect. Often it will leave us with more questions than answers (and while this may be a good thing in a philosophy text, it is not for a technical text).
