pdflib and php4 on redhat 6.2

I cannot for the life of me get pdflib 3.02 and php4 to work together. First, I can't get pdflib to create any .so files, then, when i link pdlib's .la file to pdflib.so, php4 compile, but a apache craps out with a bunch of undefined refrences to pdflib functions. Any body get through this already ?

After compiling & linking PDF support you will have to have pdflib.so in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH env var in order for apache to pick it up.

That's another part of the problem. I can't even get pdflib to create a pdflib.so file. I use:
./configure --enable-cxx
make
make install

and all it does is puts a pdflib.h file in /usr/local/includes directory.

How did you compile and link PDF support?

You need to configure pdflib with at least

--enable-shared-pdflib
