PHP4/CGI: no post

Hello,
I compiled PHP4 as CGI on Suse6.4 Linux/Apache with various options. In best cases, php works but I don't have post (only get works).
I have php3.15 installed as module; and the cgi module is fast_cgi2.2.2. Do I have to recompile Apache to get php4 work right ?

Are you aware of $HTTP_GET_VARS and $HTTP_POST_VARS?
