How to install PHPMyAdmin

Can I install PHPMyAdmin by myself to my hosting account (Yes not server). Or I need to ask my hosting company to install it for me? Thanks...

PHPMyAdmin is a set of php scripts to administrate a mysql database.
If the ISP has php and mysql installed, then you should be able to copy the phpmyadmin scripts to the server and work with the databases that you have access to.

phpmyadmin install is very easy.
just unzip the files.
open config.inc.php
edit the username=root values
since u are not the root, delete all the username and passwords < leave them null >
in the cfgServers[1]['only_db'] = "XXX"
where XXX is the name of ur database.

go to a web browser
http://ur.domain.com/phpMyAdmin/index.php

voila ! enjoy

How in the heck do you install phpadmin on a windows machine? I can only find info on installing on Linux.

I have it up and running on Win2000Pro server and Linux. Seems like it was confusing at first, but keep in mind that phpMyAdmin is just a bunch of Web page files. Put them in a directory, ("phpMyAdmin" for example) then edit the config.inc file. There is a little bit of fiddling to get the right combination of params on the server init. phpMyAdmin allows for multiple db servers, so if you just have one, then you only have to worry about the the first one in the config file.

phpMyAdmin does have some helpful error messages, keep trying the yourdomain.com/phpMyAdmin URL and config.inc adjustments until you get a successful logon.
