Help with mail()

My server (apache on linux) cannot deliver mail with function mail(). I have to use sendmail program directly.

How can I solve this. Most of the code uses mail() so i have to rewrite all the scripts to sendmail.

I need your help.

No errors. Only that no type of email is sent.

Just a suggestion: take a look at the 'Install Help' posting made just prior to yours (2000-10-30 21:20:55) with the subject, "Subject: mail() setup fails with certain ISPs". What is mentioned in this posting could be the reason, although no confirmation of this being a possible explanation has yet been provided.

As a start, check with your ISP to see if they require 'password authorization'.

So the mail() function works perfectly, but no mail arrives
at the adres you sent it to?

Did you check to see if any bounced mail arrived in the mailbox of the user that runs apache?

Yes, the mail() works perfectly for the ISP that does NOT require password authorization.

For the ISP that requires password authorization, it is not possible to log into the server. It does not get as far as 'bounced mail'.

Again, this password authorization requirement was confirmed by the ISP.
