installation of Apache & php with oci8

I wanna ask you something about installation of oracle client & php & apache as webserver.

Firstly I use
Redhat 7.0
Oracle 8.1.6 client (succesfully installed as oracle user)
php 4.0.3 pl1 (not installed yet)
apache 1.3.14 (not installed yet)

I wanna build Apache webserver with php & oci8 . But If I enter to the system as root or any other thing except oracle user , I couldnt see oracle envoriment values, and also I couldnt use sqlplus. But If I enter as oracle , no problem, everything works.

Could anyone tell how to build this system (php&oracle&apache), which user should install apache and php and compile it. ?
What Should I do ?
Is there any documentation about this topic ?

All documents about installation of php & apache prefer root user as installer but this situation is different and as far as I know that If I use root user it won't work.

Try loggin in as the oracle user and su'ing to root without the "-" sign, that keeps the environment settings of your oracle user in place.

Otherwise, try copying the environment settings from your oracle user's .profile to your root's .profile.

Either way you will have to set the environment variables for root anyway in order to start apache.

Here are the variables i set in root's .bashrc (change bashrc to your shell file):

export ORACLE_BASE=/usr/local/oracle
export ORACLE_HOME=/usr/local/oracle
export ORACLE_SID=YOUR_SID
export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
