running PHP4 as CGI

Hello,

I've been programming with PHP for a while. It's always installed as an Apache module. Now we moved to a host who "is currently offering PHP version 3.0.9 and 4.0.3pl1. PHP 4.0.3pl1 is currently installed as a CGI binary, while PHP 3.0.9 is compiled into Apache."

I have no idea about how to call a PHP CGI script. Can anybody help me? I have a site programmed in PHP4 that will be moved on this server. Is it possible to execute the PHP4 source as a CGI called -somehow- from the browser?

I would greatly appreciate any hint on this problem. Thanks in advance for your time.

I recently moved to a host "Communitech.net" in Kansas City, MO that has the same setup. They told me to just rename the ".PHP" file extension to ".CGI". I tried this and it worked. They have the GD library functions, but unfortunately not the TrueType font functions installed.

If the company you are hosting with offers the STANDARD/DEVELOPER 350MB/500MB storage space plans with 25GB/40GB transfer/month and 25 subdomains, you are probably hosting with the same company through a reseller.

Thanks for the answer. It worked. I have some problem with session_start() command (it says that 'headers are already send') but this is only a matter of debugging from now on. At least it can understand it's PHP.
