install php/apach/postgreSQL/Mandrake7.2

Hi,
i have installed php4 in mandrake, to work with postgreSQL. It gave me problems with files "LIBCLNTSH.SO.8.0" and "LIBWTC8.SO" but those are Oracle files so i suppose i dont need them so i completely remouved all php/oracle installation.

The problem is php ,embeded in html, doesnt work, it completely ignores the code!!
Then i found a help in the FAQ 5.2 of php.net sayng i had to do something with the file "http.conf" but i dont have it in my computer !!!
Im new to Linux and i'm realy stuck!!
help me please.

Are you running apache? (I'll assume you are, but if not, let us know).

If you installed apache from source, then you likely have an httpd.conf file in the /usr/local/apache/conf directory. If you installed from RPM, then you should have one in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd/conf or something similar.

I installed all from the instalation CDs.
I didnt found http.conf but i found httpd.conf as if i installed from RPM.
About apache, i made the "ps -A" command and it didnt appear, but it is selected to "start automatically at boot time", at least with the name "httpd".
I still didnt made any change to the file, i want to know about apache first.

If apache isnt running, how do i turn it on ?

I'm realy a linux newbie!
