yeah..
i first got the gif version and recompiled and installed it (a RPM of this can be found on the net somewhere if you're too lazy)
i dont remember if i had to add an entry to the ld.conf, but in the configure commannd for the php i added this
"--with-gd'
if you have a certain directory, you'd do
"--with-gd=/path/to/gd/dir"
