Mandrake 7.2 & php & unixODBC

Hi

I had a working PHP till now, but yesterday I upgraded my Mandrake to 7.2... Well, no ODBC support. Let's look at the docs. Ohhh, it's easy... Well it seemed to be easy. I did all the things described there, but it did not build the shared object. It built the static library libodbc.la but nothing more. Now I'm in a desperate need, since the total recompilation of php did not work either, because on apache startup it told me that imap has problems with pam ... ... can anyone help me please since I need unixODBC to go further with my developement...

What exactly doesn't work? unixODBC or PHP's unixODBC extension? How did you install unixODBC? How did you install PHP?

actually it is on a windows 98 system

and all the programs work fine except when data base connectivity is tried with mysql it gives an internal server error stating that the premature end of script headers php.exe

i installed php as givenin the manual word to word and at the same time i also installed it on a other machine there it works fine but not here

could u help me?

Well I tried to build with the "Self Contained extension" modell, I copied the sources into the /tmp directory, run phpize, looked into the configure script then run ./configure --with-unixODBC --enable-shared
make all, 'till this point there was no problem. But when I've tried to run make install, it did not find any modules in the directory that is to contain them. It has built the static library libodbc.la but it did not build the libodbc.so shared library. I've blamed all on Mandrake, but when I downloaded the original php source it came out that it had the same bug, too. Building the static library, but not building the shared one...

Try if this config.m4 for odbc makes things work better:

Exchange php's ext/odbc/config.m4 with the one at the link.

I will try the makefile you sent, but there's another method:
1. Unpack the source for php4.0.x
2. configure and compile it, BUT DO NOT INSTALL!!!

Now! 🙂
3. cd into the extensions directory, you will find the libodbc.so and all the other modules you requested during the configuration 🙂))), just copy the needed #.so file, and voila! It works 🙂)))
