php can´t connect to mysql in RedHat 7

Hi:
I´ve installed a RedHat 7, and everybody tell me to install the RPM packages.
I did it, so I have Apache 1.3.12, PHP 4.0.1pl1, MySQL 3.23.22beta and PostgreSQL 7.0.2.
But PHP came without MySQL support as default!

Does anybody know how can I make PHP work with MySQL?
I tried to download ans install Apache 1.3.14 and 1.3.17, but it refuses to compile saying it doesn´t find mod_auth_dbm, but it´s inside the modules directory. Is it really needed?

Yes, PHP is working, MySQL is working and Apache is working as expected. PostgreSQL is working too, and I´m lloking at it now, but I´m familiar with MySQL.

How about reading the install section of the PHP manual?

• Download php4.lastversion

• Unpack the file: tar xzfv php4.lastversion

• Join in the directory

• ./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs

• make

• make install

• Copy the libs/*.so /usr/lib/apache

• restart httpd...

Test

Download and install
php-mysql-4.0.1pl2-9.i386.rpm from Redhat or one of their mirrors.
This will allow you to communicate without building php with mysql.
There is also updated versions of php, postgresql and mysql at redhat and mirror sites.
