PHP 4 CGI

A friend of mine has installed PHP 4 as a CGI on Apache 1.3.12 on OpenBSD. The problem is: "#!..." gets sent to browser. Of course, if this is removed, script cannot be executed.

All was well with PHP3. Is there some new compiler switch or something else?

I had that problem (FreeBSD). Installing the latest release of php fixed it.
