PHP-MySQL connection problem...

Hello:

I have installed Red Hat Linux 7 and included with the install was PHP and MySQL.

MySQL can be accessed and I have set up a database & tables using it.

PHP works OK, too.

BUT, when I try to create a script in PHP to access the MySQL database, I get the following error:

"Warning: MySQL Connect Failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111) in /var/www/html/kurucz/test.php on line 14 Unable to connect to Database!"

I am stumped with this problem...any suggestions on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem - but it was fixed when I first typed:

mysqld
into the prompt before I accessed any databases or started mysql.
