PHP running other then nobody

Hi there,

I have an apache webserver .19 running php4. The apache webserver is running under user and group nobody.

What i need is the following.. when i have a .php file owned by user.web i would like php to run that file with the user.web. Not with the nobody user. Is this possible in anyway??

you can do this by compiling php as a cgi and then running it using suexec but this can have some serious security issues.

exactly how does the current situation weaken your system security?

any user using php/perl can read the souce of any other users file and display the mysql password etc...

I have posted a fix to this today just do a search.

Dude, if you cannot add a few lines of help for what the person is asking for don't post. This is not an advertising board for your website. Now if someone were asking, "I am looking for a PHP host...", then your post would be appropriate.

You obviously have an answer for Michael so why don't you just post it.

Maybe you want to do a search across the net and the PHP forums to the many people I have helped.

Or try looking in news://alt.php or the site we provide for free www.alt-php-faq.org

Or use google....

Why repeat posts when the answer has been posted, find someone else that has posted a fix for this

I agree with what you said and I am sorry if I offended you. It was just the way I took your post. If I post a link to another site I usually give a more descriptive URL for them to follow.

I am all for doing a thorough search for an answer before posting to a bbs. I don't know how many time I have written RTFM in my posts.

No problem, too easy to judge by others standards (Too many people spam these groups)

I always do my best to help, I missed the post where the guy was couldn't find the answer (I posted in several groups/sites)
