PHP accessing pgsql on dbase server

Hi, I am trying to install php4 with pgsql support (it is installed but there is no pgsql support) but it searches for pgsql diretory to use some of it's libs, but since I have pgsql installed in other machine (the dbase one) the files aren't there... how can I get the php4 installed with pgsql access without having to install pgsql on the web server?

download the source for pgsql and compile it locally but don't install, then compile php with --with-pgsql=/mypath/to/pgsql

That should do it.

No RPM solution? There's a php-pgsql rpm, but installing it doesn't seem to do anything. It just provides /usr/lib/apache/pgsql.so. That's not a mod_something under a bad name, is it? Do I need to add it to apache somehow?
