WIN2k server with networking

Please help me before I go mad someone.

I have for some time used win2kserver for my site/server solution. All with the nice extras the dns active dictory etc etc. All with PHP4 & Mysql working perfectly. This machine is connected to the internet through my ISDN connection to upload etc.

Here is the question. I am now wanting to network my pc with others at home so I can work in other places in the house. I have tried to do this today and I am pulling my hair out. For a start if I type in lets say in my other 98 windows pc I run the command. http://mysite2 it shows nothing. So I have tried the oter way and that is it do it by IP number http://192.168.0.2. And agin nothing (So that I can have more than one web site i use mulitple ips assigned to the network card). I also connot connect to the web even tho I have ticked Enable connection sharing in my dial up properties.

I have no problems shareing files or folders.

Can anyone help me

on your win98 boxes, if you run winipcfg , do you get a reasonable IP address? You should be able to open up a command window and ping or tracert those IPs from other connected machines. I don't know the architecture of what you've set up, but at least internally you should be able to ping them if you have TCP/IP installed correctly.

I don't know if this will help but here are a few suggestions anyways.

First, when you installed php you must have copied one of the files which was to be named php.ini, I had one such problem when I copied the php.ini-opt file and renamed it. Then i deleted that file and I copied the php.ini-dist file and renamed it. And swoosh! everything was working

Second did you install php as a cgi executable or as a binary file. Installing it as a cgi executable has some advantages, althogh there may be a slight decrease in speed, but then Windows is supposed to slow everything down isn't it?

Finally you mentinoed that your net too has stopped working. So it would suggest that you have got a problem with your dns settings. You can check it out by typing 216.239.33.100 instead of google and if you are successful then you have to do something abt the way dns is installed on ur machine.

And last but not the least if it does not work, blame M$ and format ur disk and start all over again ;-) (Kidding......)
