Universal Parse Error

Hi all,

I installed PHP 404pl1 on my MacOSX (release) machine running Apache 1.3.14. As far as I can tell, php is installed correctly and configured as a dynamic module on the server. However, any php file that I try to open - even files that do not contain any php code - generate a parse error, usually reporting one line past the end fo the file. Any help would be apprecaited.

After posting, I did some more searches and found the answer in the most obvious place, the install section of the PHP manual on the official PHP site:

http://www.php.net/manual/en/install.macosx.php

This page includes instructions for downloading and installing a precompiled libphp4.so which works fine on MacOSX.
