IIS5.0 and PHP

I installed PHP on my IIS 5.0 server (win2k) and it seems to parse /all/ files that have PHP in them. If i have a file named test.xxx and I load it up in the web browser, it gets parased, same with .txt. How do I get it so this does not happen so I can link to pHP source? (.phps)

My understanding of your problem is that no matter what you send through your server, it gets parsed like a php file.

The only thing I can figure in your case is to go to your Internet Information Services, find your Default Web Site, right click and bring up Properties.

Click on the Home Directory tab and then the Configuration button. There will be a list of Application Mappings, make sure .php or whatever are the only ones mapped to the php4isapi.dll.

Or better yet, use a proper webserver such as Apache, which is free and easy to install on the Windows platform.

Which is, of course, unsecure as heck when running on Windows, which you will reply well...go to *nix...which someone will reply to saying they can't because the business is Windows based and will only use IIS 5.0...which someone will reply saying quit and work for some business who uses something better...at which someone will remind them that he can do that if you are willing to pay all his bills, house payments, and groceries while he looks...

There is the perfect world of running exactly what we want on the platform we want, and then there is the real world of what we are pretty much stuck with depending on the situation.

Some day we will all be at that point, but its still a long way off. For now, we have to address the problems we can handle. ;-)

The only thing maped related to php is .php to php.exe %s %s, the installer did that for me.
