GD Installation Problems!

Hi dear friends!
I wana install GD library to work with images. but i have problem with GD installation.
I have installed GD successfuly. But when PHP configuration script runs to gather information about system, it can not detect any GD functions and after installation GD work uncorrectly.
Please help me to solve this problem.

Be sure to recompile PHP using --with gd (or whatever the option is, I can't recall it perfectly off the top of my head).
