I have already downloaded vbulletin from here and uploaded it to my f2s.com webspace, but I can't seem to get to my home page to install it...what I mean is it's not coming up and not sure where the files are to go. I did sign up with F2s. April 27th, so I have my data base already as I see 2 weird raw log files for download but not sure what to do with them.
Any help is appreciated as I would like to get it working on the website by Friday nite/Saturday nite and then change the color from purple to blue, will have to figure that out last and customize it a bit more to have our group name at the top of the forum board...thanks!
I uploaded the files, but the install file doesn't appear to automatically install if for me and that's part of my problem, as for www.f2s.com, they do have php, mysql, etc to support it.
I have been trying to get a forum up for 2 months now, hopefully unthreaded message board to work. I have seen most are threaded, which I prefer, but my friends (80-114 of them) want unthreaded boards, is anyone familiar with AOL message boards? That's what we want it patterned after, I got mostof the graphics we want done, but I want caricatures instead of smileys of our fave actors for the boards, so will need to find someone, or I can continue to create them on my own, but want them realistic looking...and the forum it's on one subject, though many will post OSP (off subject posts) on the same forum, or I could have 2 diff categories, etc..., we want it a private forum and I am on a budget, so I am looking at: vbulletin.com; ikonboard.com; phpbb.com...just need to know which is best to work with and customize, color, name of board and caricatures.
I did get help before, but none worked and can't find my original post, so thought I would post again, for tips, is there a better free web host then f2s.com? They haven't answered my emails 2-3 times now...and their server is slow so far when I uploaded the files.
Either a board, or the www.netone.at guestbook that I want to get working, but still a bit stuck..although I have learned a great deal of PHP in 2 months, but still a bit of a struggle...sorry for this being kinda long. <g>
