php on apache on unix

I have in stalled apache using --Prefix=/home/mlapsley/usr/apache

So when I came to installing php I followed the DSO support instruction in the manual and had the prefix the same /home/mlapsley/usr/apache

php works apart from we do not know where to put the php.ini file and cant find the php.exe file we do not have permission to put the php.ini file in /usr/local/lib and have tried to put it in /home /mlapsley/user /apache/lib still does not work

Also have tried static install with the same prefix still does not work

You can use the configure option
--with-config-file-path=PATH
to set the php.ini where you need it to be.
