Installing Via RPM ?? Help please

Hello all,

Well I goofed my box, and now had to reinstall. i am trying to install php 4 via rpm. So I did the useual 

rpm -i php.version.i386.rpm

No I have no idea what to do?
How do I enable it with my mysql/apache installation.

Also, I forgot, the reason why I cant use the binary is whenever I do a "make'
I get the following error immediately
/usr/include/bits/local_lim.h:36:26: linux/limits.h: No such file or directory
make[1]: [zend_language_scanner.lo] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/beaker/software/php-4.0.5/Zend'
make: [all-recursive] Error 1

To which I cannot figure out.. all the sources are new and in place.
