Windows 98 instalation problem

Hi PHP guru's,

I am pretty new and infact trying to instal apache server in windows 98.After installing apache I am trying to run the server from windows 98 path start-->Programs-->apache web server-->start apache.Thing is the system is not starting the sever for some reason.I don't know why.May be I am doing some thing wrong.

I infact tried to run the below command from the MSDOS prompt.
C:\Program files\Apache> apache -f "C:\program files\apache\conf\httpd.conf"

Still it is not starting the apache server.I am getting the following error.

( Apache 1.3b3
httpd: cannot determine local host name
Use server name to set it manually. )

So I am now struck.I deliberately need you guy's help ASAP.

Can any one tell me how to run the PHP script.Where should I actually keep .php files.

Hi Leela,

Look for "ServerName" in your httpd.conf. This Line should look like:

ServerName localhost

or:

ServerName www.micro$oft.com

If the line is uncommented by a # -- just remove the "#".

Restart Webserver and it should work ;-)
