Lightweight mail sending

I want to be able to send mail without having sendmail och qmail installed.. since I dont need all the fancy features they offer I would like someting that is extremely simple and lightweight, and preferably also secure =)

I have tried using the SMTP.php example that, someone, made.. but I could not get it to work.. so I would greatly appreciate some suggestions on how to set up the most lightweight solution 4 my problem..

i.e, give me the name/url of the most simplistic mail() client that can be configured in php.ini

SMTP is your best bet I think, if you don't want to go through the sendmail installation (which is at least a good 4 minutes work, and which is usually already installed anyway)

Better get back to that SMTP.php thing and see what the problem is.

ok, I did so and got one of the less advanced smtp.php examples (they can be found at this site).. Its not that I cant set the servers up its just that, what the **** is the point of doing so =).. SMTP should be incorporated in directly in PHP according to me as an alternative.

anyway it works now and I`m happy.. JOYJOY!! =)
