error on install

hii i have a problem when i install php 4.0.5 the error is " componnent 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: afile is missing or invalid"
i find the file, and it exist in winnt/system32. so what's the problem friends??

and how about if i want to connect to microsoft sql.7 what should i do (what kind file i have to put, and where)

Mira a mi me sucedió lo mismo, porque baje el archivo para instalar el PHP directamente, y lo que hace este archivo (php405-installer.exe) es querer modificar el 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' y como está en uso te marca error. Lo que yo hice fue bajar el archivo php-4_0_5-Win32.zip y lo descomprimí y luego hice un respaldo del regedit y reinicie la PC, posteriormete entré en modo de mantenimiento y modifique el regedit y seguí los pasos de.

Todo lo anterior depende que web server tengas instalado y que versión de windows tengas instalado.
Lo que te platico yo lo realice en NT4 con IIS.
