I'm trying to get GD 1.8.4 setup on a server I am working on (Actually, I'm not setting it up, the server owners are suppose to be). In any case, GD 1.5 is currently on there as a PHP plugin. However, as it only works with gifs and not jpegs, I need 1.8.4.

After about a week or so of saying that it was being installed, I now get an email saying:
"Plesk is not compatible with the GD 1.8.4 software and would require us to
recompile the linux kernel."
Plesk is at:
"http://www.plesk.com/products/description.php"
Is this true? Is this not true? Is there a way to get around this and have it installed if it is true?
