How to download PHP server

I am new to PHP.I would like to know where I can download PHP server (i.e. apache) with our confusion.I visited the apache site and tried to download but I am confused.
Could any one please let me know any other download site with out confusion

download apache from apache.org
download php from php.net

see webdev (http://www.weberdev.com/articles/ApachePHPandPostgreSQL.html) vor information about installing all that stuff

leave out the postgres thing if you don't need it.
