Can't use mySQL_connect, Why?

Hi,

I'm just got MySQL running on redhat 7.1 but now I want to use it together with php. I tried to open a db but I get an error that the interpreter doesn't know the function mySQL_connect. I read something that Redhat doesn't install mysql support when it installs php. How do get this support?

Can I uninstal php4 with the package manager and install it again?

I'm a total newbie with Linux..

You'll probably have to re-compile PHP yourself. The latest version (4.0.6) and the instructions are available from www.php.net
