php ora modules via Apache, not Shell?

Hi all

When I installed PHP it installed fine with no errors. I installed including Apache and Oracle options. Everything has been working fine since installation (4 months ago), however I am now trying to use php via shell scripts and get the following error
"Call to undefined funtion: ora_logon" when trying to run a php script from the shell. This is presumably because it cannot find the Oracle libraries?
I did a phpinfo from Apache and it has "Server API = Apache" whereas phpinfo from the shell has "Server API = CGI". The Apache phpinfo has sections under configuration for Oracle and OCI 8 whereas when from the shell it does not have these sections. Nor does it have them if I do a php -m from the shell. I have done a search on the disk and there is only one php exe and one php.ini. I am running php 4.0.4pl1, HP-UX 11, Apache 1.3.19.

How can I get php to work with oracle functions from the shell?

Hi,
I had the same problem.
Solution 1: login as user oracle (or whatever user owns the oracle-processes) and execute your php-script.
Solution 2: Set the Oracle-specific environment variables (probably $ORACLE_HOME and some further which I can't remeber right now. Take a look at oracle-users .profile / .bashrc).

Thanks for your suggestions, unfortunately they didnt work for me.

#1 I logged in as Oracle and it doesnt work as it does not have the correct path for php, I added that and still no go.

#2 I check to make sure ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID and any paths in Oracles .profile are in mine. Logged out and in and the resultes are the same.

This is annoying the hell out of me. I'd like to use php from shell and avoid other scripting languages...mmmm...??????

you need to recompile php as a cgi and with oracle support.

cgi php & apache php are two different copies of php and need to be compiled seperately.

Great. compiled PHP again without apache or axps references and I can run a script from the shell.
