How to use dl(); for GD?

Hi there...

My webhotel does not have support for the GD library... So I thought I could use the dl(); function to add the support, I searched the web (with http://ftpsearch.ntnu.no) and found a gd.so that I downloaded and put in the right directory. This is the error I get from the webserver:

Warning: Unable to load dynamic library './GD.so' - ./GD.so: undefined symbol: PL_stack_max in /home/users/cbaLJWAr/listarray2.php on line 10

Whats PL_stack_max?? Do I need a customized compile of GD.so?? Can I compile that one at home, or do I need to ask the admin of the webhotel for the file??

PHP is build and version specific (ie: an .so build against 4.0.4pl1 will not work with 4.0.6). Sounds like this is your problem. In addtion, with GD on Nix you must specify the paths to the external libraries used for various opertions (zlib, jpeg, png, true type fonts, etc.). Thus, since the paths on any given machine are likely to be different (and the lib_php4.so hasn't been compiled to use them anyways), I doubt very much you'll be able to get this working. However, I could be wrong too..... try finding and loading gd.so for your host's PHP version. HTH.
