php+perl+apache

i am using php4 and apache 1.3.20 on red hat linux 6.1. Now i would like to install perl5.Could any one tell me the installation procedure for this and how i have to configure with apache.

just install perl (rpms shipped with your cd).

Then you will have to configure apache in order to launch perl in association with your cgi.

If you find this cool enough, have a look at mod_perl

Yes as you told ,i have got perl while installing red hat itself.The problem is, when i try to run the cgi program (for example test.cgi) it is giving the error
'403..Forbidden .you don't have permission to run /test.cgi on this server.
But this test.cgi already has got read and execute permissions.Do i need to configure anything in my apache.I really don't know how to proceed with this.Could you tell me the reason for this.
