MySql on Win NT

I have installed MySql on Win NT 4. I followd the instruction like executing mysqld on the installed path and type
mysql -u root w/o -u root. Nothing seems to work.

I do not want to install php or apache because Using MYSql as backend database and Visual basic as front end.

Is there any expertise to help me.

Did you check through the Task Manager to make sure server (mysqld) was running?

Also before running the client (mysql), make sure you either use the full path to the executable, or make sure you are in the directory in which it resides.

Note: I haven't installed MySQL on NT in a while but I thought that the installation was pretty straingt foreward. Run the installation program and start the service.

You may also have to type
mysqld -n

to get it started.
