HELP! PLEASE! libphp4.so is garbled

Hi! I have read the prev threads
and done a make clean; rm config.cache.
still to no avail.

Syntax error on line 52 of
httpd.conf

API module structure `php4_module' in file
libphp4.so is garbled - perhaps this is not an Apache module DSO?

./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs
make
make install
make clean
rm config.cache

is there something else I need to clean? any ideas.

How about a full path to apxs.

--with-apxs=/usr/somewhere/apxs
