Fatal Error: Unable to create JVM

Well it seems that a few people have had trouble getting ext/java to work on their configurations. I am now in the same situation, but under a different configuration. So the problem is that I get the message "Unable to create Java Virtual Machine" when I request a page in my browser. I've also tried using the Kaffe JVM, but then no data at all is sent to my browser. If I use the classic JVM that comes with jdk1.3.1_01, I get, "undefined symbol: jdk_sem_post in". Does anybody have any ideas?

I am tracking the same problem without much success.

It continues to work as long as I keep requesting it frequently. This indicates it probably has to do with what happens when the connection/child process times out. As a test I tried setting the KeepAlive property to off in httpd.conf and restarting Apache. I can get the page once and only once then. I think it has to do with a bad shutdown of the JVM or php_java when Apache tries to shut it down (when you haven't accessed the page for a while and Apache is doing cleanup). It stays in memory (checking on Task Manager) and when you go to get the page again it tries to reuse what is now a bad JVM. Just a theory.

Anyone else have any ideas? I need this fixed.

i actually figured out what the problem was back in october, but i didn't post anything on this thread because i figured that no one was really interested, since i had no responses back then anyway. in fact, it is in great shock that i received this response.

anyway, i simply downloaded the blackdown jvm and everything worked perfectly. thus, i figured the problem must have been the ext/java module. at that moment, i realized that the problems might not end there, so i elected to go J2EE, and now i'm running jsp and a grip of java classes that integrate very nicely with everything else.
