Apache Headaches...

Well, my friend installed Apache on his Win98 comp today and is trying to set it up so anyone can access his web server, but it isn't working.

/localhost/ works for him, but his webserver can't be accessed by anyone else.

He has tried editing the servername in the httpd.conf file to his IP address, and that didn't fid anything either.

Any ideas?

see if your "isp" did'nt block the 80 port...

this could be a reason and if yes try to configured on another port like 8080..

If you have access to a unix machine, run an nmap scan on the ip in question. If port 80 shows up as "filtered" then you know it's blocked. There's probably win32 program that does the same thing, but I've never had the desire to look for one. 😉
